School Programs
The past months have been a challenge to the Boys to Men Texas mentoring program. Once the Covid-19 restrictions were implemented we lost all contact with the boys in our program.
Our boys have been locked down for the last 6 months. As schools begin their start ups, our plan is to be there to continue to provide a platform for our boys to continue to be heard.
And as our boys come back to school they will bring with them all the fear, isolation, and connection they have been lacking in their lives
Good news though! We have been cleared by Eisenhower YES Prep to begin a Virtual Mentoring program on Sept. 15. And other schools will be coming online as they slowly open up. Our goal is to be prepared.
We are excited. In preparation, Joe Hirsch, our director of schools, has put together a Virtual mentor training program, which we will do within the next week to prepare our Mentors for mentoring in a virtual world.
We are grateful to Boys to Men San Diego for providing us the training that they created in April and implemented and, successfully used over the summer, and are starting to use in also schools. So we have a tested and developed Virtual training program.
Boys to Men USA is a collaboration of centers around the country that communicate, and share ideas.
The Boy Crisis is a nationwide issue, and Boys to Men is stepping in that gap.
